The mission of The Iraq and Afghanistan War Memorial Foundation is to establish a monument in honor of Floridians who served in our nation's wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan. We take pride in this mission to honor all who served, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Iraq and Afghanistan War Memorial of Florida
Dedication Scheduled as follows:
Noon, Saturday, April 20, 2024
Veterans Park at Rivergate
2200 SE Veterans Memorial Parkway
Port Saint Lucie, FL 34952
This monument will honor Floridians who served in our nation's wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Made from India Black Granite, (like the Vietnam War Memorial), this impressive monument will serve as an enduring reminder of the sacrifices made on behalf of our nation.
The front side will be adorned with metal plates, painted in the colors of each war's campaign ribbons, outlines of each country, service emblems, and appropriate wording. The back side will list 349 names of Floridians who were killed in each war, (Florida listed as their Home Of Record at time of death) source: DOD / Defense Casualty Analysis System. A service member's state home of record is the state from which they enter military service.
Planned Location: The Veterans Memorial Park of the City of Port Saint Lucie, FL
On 19 September 2022, the City Council of Port Saint Lucie, by a unanimous vote of 5-0, voted to approve the Iraq and Afghanistan War Memorial of Florida, to be placed in the Veterans Memorial Park of Port Saint Lucie. After a three month search, and on-site surveys of almost 50 possible locations, we determined that Port Saint Lucie offered the best location for the monument. We look forward to working with their Parks Department, and other city offices in the completion of this mission. We thank Mayor Shannon Martin, and the City Council for placing their trust in us, and we look forward to dedicating the monument later this year.
